IIMAA was founded by Grandmaster Greg Goepfert and several individual Black Belts. IIMAA is a group of independent martial artists working together to achieve success in our lives as well as in our businesses.

GM Goepfert has developed a system named “Budo Ryu Shin Gendai Senshi” which translates to “living the martial way as a true modern warrior”.  This system of martial arts comes from over 50 years of training in many different martial arts styles. ​In addition to founding his own system and being granted Sokeship and his 8th Dan by an International Grandmaster Board; GM Goepfert also holds the following internationally recognized ranks:

​GM Goepfert spent several years living and training in Okinawa, Japan and Korea while serving in the U.S. Air Force. During this time GM Goepfert trained USAF Combat Controllers, Army Green Berets and Law Enforcement personnel in hand-to-hand combat and defensive tactics.

GM Goepfert has many competition victories, including 1st place in the Okinawa International, 1st in the 1989 World Karate Championships, 1st in Nationals, and 1st place in State (IL&LA). In addition, he has several students that have won World, National and State Championships

GM Goepfert has owned and operated several martial art schools in Illinois (5), Florida, Massachusetts and Okinawa with hundreds of students. He has also taught martial arts classes at many academic schools, colleges (Rock Valley, Palm Beach State, etc.) and military bases (Kadena AB, Eglin AFB and Tyndall AFB).

​GM Goepfert has served as a Law Enforcement Officer and spent two years assigned to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Training Division (12th largest SO in the U.S.) where he was the lead Defensive Tactics Instructor. He was also tasked with instructing all high liability areas to over 1,600 Deputies per year. GM Goepfert served as an adjunct instructor for Palm Beach College Criminal Justice Academy where he instructed students in all areas of police work. GM Goepfert holds Instructor certifications in Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Handgun, Shotgun, Rifle, Pepperball, Traffic Stops, Driving, Taser, etc. In addition, he is certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in Firearms, Defensive Tactics and Driving. GM Goepfert was assigned to the Dignitary Detail Protection Team which was tasked with the protection of US Presidents, Senators, Congressman and foreign Presidents traveling to the Palm Beach area.

GM Goepfert has earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and an MBA.
